Human Springs Lessons
These lessons are recommended for young (6-12 year old) absolute beginner and beginner divers. All lessons are 45 minutes long and emphasize safe basic diving and tumbling skills. Lesson divers will be introduced to the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards during the session. Participants at MLK and GISC will also learn basic trampoline skills.
Our one-lesson per week program is recommended for beginning recreational divers with little or no experience. Participants learn proper technique for forward and backward jumps, head-first forward and backward entries, and basic dives.
Young divers with an interest in advancing their skills more quickly should attend 2 classes per week.
Human Springs Team
This program is for divers age 6 and over who are ready to practice for 90 minutes at a time. It's a great spot for kids with a bit of experience in summer league competition and high school divers who want to learn three meter and platform skills. Summer league experience is not required. If you are new to diving but you would feel awkward about diving with lots of 7-10 year old kids, this is a good group to start in. We will teach the basics at the beginning of each session.
For those with some diving experience, the Human Springs Team introduces new, more advanced skills, greater use of dry-land training, as well as strength, flexibility and conditioning. Optional competitions in and around the national capitol area will be offered to those who are interested.
While we recommend two or more days per week, we do offer a one-day per week option for those who simply want to maintain diving skills through the school year. Divers who practice one day per week need to be realistic about the amount of improvement possible during a session. It can be challenging to acquire new skills when diving only one-day a week.
Our two practices per week program is a great transition from our lesson program, and also serves as a perfect starting point for summer league competitors who want to gain an extra advantage during the off-season.
At three practices per week, you can expect some pretty significant improvements over a single session – a perfect place for summer divers who want to make significant improvements in their diving skills.
Four-Day Program or More
If you are ready for a greater challenge or just can’t get enough of the sport, this is your program. This is also an excellent starting point for ex-gymnasts and trampolinists looking to transition to a new sport, anyone aspiring to compete as a scholarship athlete in the NCAA, and divers hoping to qualify for our National Training Programs.
Human Springs Dryland Training
We offer dryland classes designed to teach critical take-off, somersaulting and twisting skills using trampoline, dryboard and tumbling mats. The key benefit is repetition - divers can perform many more skills in the same amount of time - no jumping in the water, climbing out and drying off to worry about! Plus, it’s great fun to work on the dry diving boards and trampolines! These classes are specifically designed to benefit Summer League and High School Divers. All participants in Human Springs Lessons, Human Springs Team, and our High School groups are encouraged to join these classes.
The price for the classes are $20 per class, $200 for a 10 week session. To register go to Programs > Special Events > Event Calendar
On the start date of the dryland class you will find an event where you can click and register to save a spot. There will be no charge, you will be expected to bring a check on the first day of class.
